Tim Wotherspoon is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science at the University of Hong Kong. After completing his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, he worked as an Education Resource Specialists as part of the U.S. Peace Corps in South Africa. He has also previously held teaching posts at Parkland College in Champaign Illinois and at the Higher Colleges of Technology in United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Wotherspoon is a dedicated teacher with particular interests in assessment for learning and active learning environments. Most of his teaching is within HKU's Common Core Curriculum, dedicated to developing students' interdisciplinary problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Recently he has been very involved in the development of 'Simplifying Complexity', an unique course exploring complexity sciences in physics, biology, and ecology.
